Steven Gerrard shares verdict on Gabriel Gudmundsson injury after ‘not great’ Leeds United update
Steven Gerrard thought that Gabriel Gudmundsson’s suspected injury during Leeds United‘s FA Cup game against Chelsea was cramp, though that doesn’t seem to be the case.
The Whites were sent crashing out of the semi-finals of the FA Cup by Chelsea this Sunday, as Enzo Fernandez’s first-half header sent the Blues into the final with a 1-0 win.
Leeds came for the Blues in the second half after changes at the break saw Anton Stach reintroduced to the side along with Joe Rodon, but the pair couldn’t provoke a comeback.
There weren’t many positives for the Whites to take from the loss, but they now have full focus on their mission to secure their Premier League status 100 per cent.
However, Gudmundsson seemed to pick up an injury late in the game, and Daniel Farke has said that it looks to be hamstring-related.

Steven Gerrard played down Gabriel Gudmundsson’s injury
Gudmundsson’s has already had injury issues this season, most recently while out on international duty with Sweden.
The left-wing back was sidelined for some games, and Farke had to rely on Jayden Bogle to put in performances on his weaker side.
| Area of game | Stats |
| Minutes | 90′ |
| Pass accuracy | 76% |
| Dribble success | 0% |
| Crosses (accurate) | 5 (2) |
| Aerial duels won | 2/2 |
Leeds were pushing for a winner in the closing stages of the game, but Gudmundsson was spotted unable to run, but somehow saw the game out.
The TNT commentators were discussing Gudmundsson’s injury while watching the game live at Wembley Stadium.
Ally McCoist said : “It looks like Gudmundsson has done his hamstring. Cramp, he’s got a chance; hamstring, he’s got no chance.
Gerrard replied: “It looks like cramp to me, I’d say so.”

However, Farke’s update doesn’t sound promising, which means the best-case scenario is that Gudmundsson may be back for the game against Tottenham on Monday, 11 May.
What has Daniel Farke said?
Gudmundsson has been a top performer for Leeds this season, but the Whites don’t have a natural left-wing back for cover.
The 26-year-old has taken life to the Premier League like a duck to water, but there’s now a chance he’s played his final game of the season.
Farke has since come out and told the media that Gudmundsson’s injury is “not great news”, as quoted by Beren Cross on X.
Time will tell, but hamstring injury problems usually keep a player out for at least one week, and if it’s bad, it could be a lot longer than that.
