Noah Okafor’s Leeds United absence set to prolong as Murat Yakin confirms injury blow
Noah Okafor looks set to miss Leeds United‘s Premier League clash with Brentford amid an update provided by Switzerland head coach Murat Yakin.
The 25-year-old has not played for Leeds since injuring his hamstring in the FA Cup win over Birmingham City on 15 February.
Okafor appeared to be in contention to return against Crystal Palace last week, only to suffer a setback at Thorp Arch.
He has so far missed five successive matches for Daniel Farke’s men.
And with Leeds set to take on Brentford at Elland Road on Saturday, it sounds as though Okafor will again be absent through injury.

Noah Okafor left out of Switzerland squad
Okafor was left out of Switzerland’s latest squad on Thursday ahead of the friendlies against Germany and Norway over the next fortnight.
Manager Yakin confirmed that is down to Okafor not being available for selection.
| Years | Club / Team | Notes |
| 2008–2018 | FC Basel Youth | Developed through academy |
| 2018–2020 | FC Basel | Senior debut |
| 2020–2023 | Red Bull Salzburg | Won multiple league titles |
| 2023–2025 | AC Milan | Move to Serie A |
| 2025–Present | Leeds United | Transfer to Premier League |
As per Nau.ch, Yakin told reporters that he “had planned to have [Okafor] in the squad, but unfortunately he’s injured now.”
While news of Okafor’s recent injury woes is not new information, the fact he is deemed not ready to link up with his national side this month suggests he is not close to a return.
Indeed, Farke surely would have favoured the forward building up some playing time in friendly matches with his country over before Leeds’ return to action.
As it is, though, Okafor will not play a part in those games with Germany and Norway, so it is likely his next game will be against West Ham on 5 April at the earliest.
How much have Leeds paid Okafor per goal so far?
Okafor arrived at Leeds from AC Milan in a deal worth £18million last summer, but the Whites have yet to see value for their money.
With four goals from 26 appearances this season, Okafor is costing Leeds £4.5m per goal so far.

That is something that needs to improve, but the only way that will happen is if he is fit and firing.
It now seems unlikely he will be used at all against Brentford this weekend, but he does at least have this two-week break to get himself up to match fitness.
