Max Wober: Problems mount for Leeds United loanee as injury woes continue on international duty
Max Wober has withdrawn from international duty with Austria, with the Leeds United loanee’s misery continuing away from LS11.
The 28-year-old has suffered a nightmare of a campaign this season, having been practically ruled out through injury for the majority of the campaign.
On loan at German side Werder Bremen, Wober has only featured once in the Bundesliga since moving in the summer.
Despite joining the Whites in January 2023, he has only made 28 appearances for the West Yorkshire outfit, and his second loan spell since the move is going awfully wrong.
Wober’s Leeds career hasn’t panned out well, and a spanner has been thrown in the works for his long-term future after his latest injury.

Max Wober leaves Austria camp due to injury
Werder Bremen can buy Wober for £3.5million, a clause which was included in the Leeds loanee’s contract with the German side.
But the chances of that happening look even more uncertain after he sustained a muscular injury on international duty.
According to Austrian media outlet Salzburger Nachrichten, Wober left the Austrian national football team’s training camp in Vienna on Saturday.

Daniel Farke clearly isn’t a big fan of Wober, shipping him out on loan to Borussia Monchengladbach and Werder Bremen in the last three years.
The Peacocks are desperate to seek a solution that would see the towering defender leave permanently, but that just can’t happen while he is unfit.
And with his injury record becoming even worse over the last two years, that may not happen in the summer.

It’s hugely unfortunate for his career as a whole, and the next step he takes looks incredibly uncertain, as he has already passed his prime.
How do Leeds fans rate Wober?
Wober is under contract with the Whites until the summer of 2027, still on the original deal that he signed when he joined the LS11 club.
There have been no indications that he will sign a new deal at Elland Road, and Wober has since claimed that the club want to sell him, which is evident from the buyout clause.
Having fallen down the pecking order behind the likes of Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon, Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw, there is no way back for him in LS11.

So that leaves him in an unfortunate predicament, but it’s safe to say that Leeds fans won’t feel too much sympathy.
After the Whites were relegated from the top flight in 2023, the Austria international sought after his loan move to Borussia Monchengladbach instead of helping the Whites bounce straight back up from the Championship.
Therefore, they’ll be just as keen as Farke to get rid of Wober.
