Noah Okafor: How much Leeds United have paid for each goal after £18m transfer

Noah Okafor hasn’t quite had the debut season for Leeds United he was hoping for, with just four Premier League goals to his name.

With clubs such as Basel, Napoli and AC Milan on his CV before making the move to Elland Road in this season’s summer window, Okafor arrived in West Yorkshire to much excitement.

The 25-year-old was one of the main marquee additions from Leeds’ summer of spending following promotion from the Championship, but injury has disrupted his impact in recent weeks.

However, with the versatile forward now nearing a return to Daniel Farke’s squad, just how much money have each of his four goals cost Leeds after his big-money transfer switch, and has it been worth it?

How much Leeds United have paid per Noah Okafor goal

Okafor is a doubt for Leeds’ clash with Brentford, with Farke confirming that he’s once again had to miss out on training with a hip issue after having returned to the grass in recent days.

This continues to be far from ideal for the Whites, as the Swiss international was just coming into form prior to his injury setback in mid-February.

Indeed, Okafor scored in back-to-back Premier League games against Nottingham Forest and Chelsea, before providing an assist in the FA Cup win over Birmingham City in his last appearance on 15 February respectively.

Prior to this run of form, you had to go back to 4 October last year to find his last goal contribution for Leeds, which came in the 2-1 loss to Tottenham.

So, he currently sits on four goals from 26 total appearances for Leeds this season, which is slightly underwhelming given the Whites forked out an initial fee that was widely reported to be worth £18million to sign him from Milan.

As such, that means each one of his four goals have cost Leeds £4.5m so far this season, which needless to say, isn’t really value for money.

Okafor should only get better for Leeds

However, Elland Road transfer chiefs also won’t be sweating too much over that either, as they will no doubt be largely impressed by what they’ve seen from him this season.

Okafor’s all-round play has been good, although he has struggled to remain consistent over the course of the campaign, but that’s to be expected in his debut season in English football.

Leeds as a team have also been the same, as their continued involvement in the relegation picture attests to.

But, should Leeds stay up and bring in more quality players this summer, then Okafor could really start blossoming in West Yorkshire from next season onwards.

As the Whites start progressing in the Premier League, the team can become increasingly front-footed in games the more quality is added to the squad, which would really benefit a classy and technical player like Okafor.
