Southampton manager Russell Martin has confirmed that Che Adams has recovered from his injury and could feature in the playoff final against Leeds United

Daniel Farke's side make the trip to Wembley to face the Saints on Sunday (26 May) as they look to make an immediate return to the Premier League having missed out on automatic promotion.

While the Whites will have to make do without Patrick Bamford who remains sidelined, Martin has admitted that he is "delighted" to have both Adams and Stewart available to feature in the capital.

As quoted by the Daily Echo (24 May) he said: "Che's back, Ross Stewart is back, so it’s only Stuart Armstrong and Gavin Bazunu that are out, and Juan Larios, but they’ve all been long-term injuries.

"We’re delighted to have Che back and have Ross back training properly as well. He took a knock last week so it’s exciting for us and great for Che. It probably would’ve been easy for Che being out of contract with the EUROs around the corner to make himself unavailable.

"He did everything he could to make himself available and come through training really well these last two days."

Will Che Adams start for Southampton against Leeds United in the playoff final at Wembley?

Ultimately, an entire season has come down to Sunday's game. Both Leeds United and Southampton (alongside Leicester) were favourites for promotion heading into this campaign and one of them will be ending the year disappointed.

Farke's side showed against Norwich City that they are more than capable of dismantling an opposition defence with ease, but they have also been guilty taking their foot off of the gas when they've faced Southampton in the past.

Bamford's absence could be a major blow at Wembley, but Joel Piroe stepped up against the Canaries last time out and the Whites will hopefully be boosted by the return to Sam Byram to the matchday squad.

If Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu are at their best, they will be able to stop either Adams or Stweart from getting too involved in proceedings.

It won't be easy, but the centre-back pairing have impressed in the second half of the campaign.
