Leeds United youth midfielder Connor Douglas could require surgery but early signs suggest that it may not be needed, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has offered his assessment of the situation after Leeds United Youth's Twitter handle claimed that he'd be ruled out for several weeks.

However, the timeline of him being on the sidelines has not been mentioned with it perhaps ranging from two weeks to a couple of months based on how serious the injury is.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said on Douglas, "The seriousness of it really depends on what several weeks means.

"For example, he could have a grade 2 inversion sprain and still be out two or three weeks which is several weeks or he could have a grade 1 high ankle sprain and miss four to six weeks and perhaps more.

"Both are 'several weeks' but the latter is a more severe injury. All that is assuming the injury was from rolling his ankle as well. The possibility of surgery would depend on the injury specifics.

"If there isn’t an immediate need for it, that’s typically a good sign."
