Leeds United losing Rodrigo to Al Rayyan due to their relegation may not be the worst thing in the world, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert believes that given his age and relegation, they have the chance to reset and build a younger and fitter team.
He also pointed out the fact that the Spain international suffers one moderate injury per season.
While that may not be a good enough reason to part ways with a player, he will be turning 33 in eight months and injuries tend to increase once players are on the other side of 30
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said on Rodrigo, "Looking at his injury history, I don’t believe that would be enough of an impetus for a sale but he still seems to pick up one moderate injury per season.
"However, with his age and Leeds relegation, a sale certainly makes sense as they may want to plan for the future with younger and fitter players."
According to Football Transfers [13 July], Qatari side Al Rayyan are offering the 32-year-old wages worth £200k/week to join them.
They've also triggered the release clause and appear to have won the race to secure his services.
Everton were the other side looking to sign the 32-year-old but Middle Eastern interest has seen them drop out.
There's a good chance that the move is just subject to an official announcement with everything else seemingly done.
