Peter Lowy shares new PSR update at Leeds United after Paraag Marathe latest

Peter Lowy has emphasised that Leeds United are highly confident on the PSR front ahead of the summer.

Following their ascent to the Premier League last May, Daniel Farke’s side are well-placed to secure their Premier League future, despite their recent run of two losses.

Leeds sit 15th in the Premier League, with a six-point gap to the relegation zone heading into the season’s crunch point, but those below are yet to play in midweek.

With plans to expand Elland Road and further compete in the top-flight, ambitions are high in West Yorkshire.

Leeds spent around £100million on new talent last summer, and the current indication is that this trend will not stop should they go on and secure their top-flight future.

Leeds are highly confident in new PSR update

As is the case for all Premier League sides, PSR remain a concern, especially for certain clubs looking to climb up the standings while still bringing in relatively low revenue figures in comparison to the heavyweights.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, investor, board member and lifelong Leeds fan Lowy provided an update on PSR from the Whites’ perspective, ahead of the switch to squad cost ratios.

“We should be fine,” said Lowy. “Part of the job of the executives running the club is to be able to project out where the PSR issues are, project how we can buy players, how do we set payments for players, and how long the contracts should be.

“As Paraag Marathe said, we will maximise the position that we can do to the best on the pitch. But part of that is our ability to manage it, and I am highly confident that we can manage that properly.”

The Australian billionaire has been a part of the structure at Leeds since 2021, and is the principal of the Lowy Family Group – a private investment business associated with the 49ers Enterprises’ group that owns the club.

Speaking on potential departures this summer, Lowy said: “You always have to be working and managing PSR on both sides of the fence, both when you buy and when you sell

“If you look where the club is, it is too early to talk about next year and whether we stay up or not, but there are changes within the squad every year, and I can assure you we are in a position where we know how to manage it,” concluded the Australian.

Leeds will have the chance to further strengthen with Premier League safety

While not as exciting as Sunderland’s, and potentially not as future-proof, Leeds recruitment has worked fantastically.

Leeds solely brought in players above the age of 25 last summer, and the decision to recruit players either in or entering the prime years of their respective careers has proven vital as the Whites look to secure their Premier League survival.

The likes of Anton Stach and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have proven important first-teamers under Farke, while multiple members of Leeds’ promoted squad have stepped up to the level.

With a good base to build from, Leeds will have the chance to strengthen further over the summer and hopefully climb further up the standings at the same time.

One thing is for certain, though, they will need to bounce back quickly in the coming weeks.
