Leeds United are in the race for in-demand Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic, with Premier League rivals Wolves and Manchester United also interested, says Manuel Veth.

The Whites have been keen to add a striker to their squad all summer after Patrick Bamford's injury hit campaign last year, but failed in bids to sign Charles De Ketelaere and Arnaud Kalimuendo.

Now they are targeting the 6ft 7' hitman who has scored 22 goals in 58 Bundesliga games over the last two season, with Stuttgart valuing him at around €25m (£21m) according to David Ornstein.

The player is already in talks with Wolves over a move although the clubs do not have an agreement yet.

That has given Leeds encouragement that they could make a move and according to journalist Veth, they are still in the race for his signature alongside Manchester United.

Target

Kalajdzic has been a hot topic over the course of this transfer window with the likes of Bayern Munich also attributed with an interest in the 25-year-old Austrian international.

His size makes him an instant target man, but he is very good with the ball at his feet too and is relatively mobile despite his height.

Leeds United

It would be an interesting fit in the Leeds side though, considering that Jesse Marsch wants to implement a high pressing, high intensity style and that's something Kalajdzic simply doesn't offer.

As a plan B option he would be a great alternative, with his physicality and different style but it would be a big change of direction from previous targets and seems like a bit of a last resort.

It would be surprising to see him turn up at Elland Road considering the style of play at Leeds that has been so successful so far this season, but it's obviously one to keep an eye on for now.
