Leeds United transfer news has emerged as their move for Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow will be for a fee in the region of £400,000, according to Sky Sports' Keith Downie.

Downie also shared the player is expected to travel to Yorkshire on Friday 28 July to undergo a medical ahead of his move to Leeds, after negotiations accelerated following Bournemouth's acquisition of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andrei Radu, despite being linked to Darlow.

The Sky Sports journalist previously shared that the Whites had offered a bigger fee than the Premier League side to get the deal done this week.

A very good price

To bring in a goalkeeper with vast experience in both the Premier League and the Championship for less than half a million is a fantastic deal for Leeds, as they strengthen their squad and improve on their previous options for what is a relative drop in the ocean.

Having beaten Premier League side Bournemouth to a deal for the goalkeeper will also be pleasing news to both the club and the fans, as it is a display of the club's considerable pulling power despite their presence in the second division.

Leeds United

While Bournemouth ultimately opted to pursue a deal for the Inter Milan keeper over Darlow, it is believed that Leeds was always the Newcastle player's preferred destination due to its geographical position better suiting his family.

Leeds were looking to strengthen in between the posts this summer as current first-choice stopper Illan Meslier is widely expected to leave the club, although a lack of interest could leave the club with an interesting dilemma.
