Leeds United takeover: Larry Nance Jr posts ‘thrilled’ reaction to Friday night 49ers news as NBA star makes pledge to fans
Larry Nance Jr reacted to the announcement that 49ers Enterprises had reached an agreement to buy Leeds United by stating he was “thrilled and honored” to be part of the new ownership group.
The NBA player is one of the investors involved in the group which will now hold 100% of the shares in the Whites after negotiations with Andrea Radrizzani were finally tied up.
A deal had been in place for months for the American group to take over the club in the Premier League, but relegation saw negotiations drag on amid the Italian’s purchase of Sampdoria.

Taking to Twitter after the official announcement finally arrived on Friday night (9 June) the New Orleans Pelicans player wrote: “Thrilled and honored to be part of the ownership group that has taken over LUFC.
“This club and it’s supporters deserve the world and we’ll do everything we can to give them just that.
“Marching on together!”

There is some of the Ryan Reynolds-Rob McElhenney feel to Nance’s message to the fans, and while it is clearly on a different scale as a Championship side, if the new era can match the success at Wrexham on a similarly enlarged basis it should be a positive.
Success has been in short supply over the past two seasons, when much of the fanbase would have just settled for some stability.
So with the push for promotion now the primary goal the hope is that the long-held plans of new chairman Paraag Marathe and company set Leeds United on the right track.

They immediately have key decisions to make which could determine whether their reign starts on a more successful footing that Radrizzani’s ended or not, with the new manager chief among them.
With players set to leave and presumably replacements set to come in, the squad needs to be set up to make an immediate return to the top flight.
It took a lot longer than it should have but the big hurdle to the future at Elland Road has finally been cleared, so the task will now be for 49ers Enterprises to match Nance’s words with actions.
In other Leeds United news, the EFL are still weeks away from given their official confirmation of the takeover deal according to Phil Hay.
