Leeds United receive £40m+ boost as financial update emerges at Elland Road
Leeds United’s financial situation is not as precarious as reported, according to Ben Jacobs.
As previously reported by the Daily Mail (16 May), the Whites would need to raise £100million if they were to fail to make a return to the Premier League.
However, while in conversation with Give Me Sport (17 June), Jacobs revealed that the figure is not that high thanks to the previously agreed sales of Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams.
“The other thing also about Leeds is finances. Just to notice that it’s widely reported they need to bring in £100m in order to balance the books,” he said.
“My understanding is that number may be a little bit high and that it’s not taking into account the forthcoming financial year books.
“Leeds are able to declare the sales of Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra, which will take down the amount of funds that Leeds need to bring in through sales from £100million to lower than that.”
Leeds United handed big financial boost at Elland Road
This is a huge boost for Daniel Farke and the club.
If the Whites can deduct the sales of Adams and Sinisterra from the reported £100million total they need to raise, that means that figure can be almost cut in half.
As reported by BBC Sport (9 February), Sinisterra joined AFC Bournemouth for a fee of £20million.
And Leeds have the Cherries to thank once again, as Adams had also previously made a move to the Vitality Stadium, with BBC Sport reporting (20 August) that the fee agreed was in excess of £20million.
This therefore represents player sales worth more than £40million, a huge boost given the £100million total that reportedly needs to be raised at Elland Road.

That means Farke will be able to perhaps keep hold of an extra player or two which will help the German as he looks to once again try and guide Leeds back to the Premier League next season.
