Leeds United react to brand new PSR developments at Leicester City
Leeds United are said to be surprised by a new profit and sustainability update out of Leicester City, according to Joe Donnohue.
The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported on Wednesday (4 September) that he understands the Whites are believed to have been surprised that the Foxes succeeded with an appeal against an alleged PSR breach.
Steve Cooper’s side have seemingly dodged a potential points deduction after the Premier League (3 September) confirmed that an independent Appeal Board had upheld their appeal against an alleged breach of PSR.
Are Leeds United at risk of a PSR breach at Elland Road?
It had seemed for all the world as though Leicester City were destined to be guilty of breaching the Premier League’s financial fair play rules, but somehow they have managed to find a loophole out of their alleged predicament.
The Whites’ surprise at the outcome of events suggests that the loophole used by the Foxes isn’t commonly known within the footballing world, otherwise everyone would have expected Leicester to use it.
From a Leeds United perspective, the Foxes’ success could well come as a minor positive as it shows that there are ways around the Premier League’s rules even if the whole world assumes that you have breached their restrictions.

While that will offer very little comfort to Daniel Farke’s side after they missed out on automatic promotion to Leicester last term, it will at least give them confidence heading into the remainder of the new season.
Hopefully, after a busy summer of departures at Elland Road, the Whites should completely comply with both the Premier League and the EFL’s rules anyway, but these surprising developments are unlikely to have harmed their chances of success.
