Leeds United are reportedly prepared to spend £14m in order to sign Coventry striker Viktor Gyokeres amid interest from other Premier League clubs.

According to TEAMtalk [7 January], the Whites are being rivalled to the 24-year-old's services by Everton as well as Brentford.

The Sweden international has enjoyed a good season as he's second in the Championship golden boot race with 12 goals in 25 games and Leeds are "firmly involved in the bidding" of the forward.

Good enough?

We're unsure as to whether or not this is the kind of money that Leeds should pay for someone who's just having a good year in the second tier.

Often, players that shine in the Championship make big money moves to the Premier League and end up being failures at a higher level.

Gyokeres needs to be thoroughly scouted and not just signed because Leeds want a striker desperately and he's a man in form.

He's still young and does have a decent injury record so it can be justified to spend that much money if Jesse Marsch is open to signing him.

He will also have a decent resale value if he ends up progressing as the Whites want him to so this is one transfer we will be keeping an eye on.

However, with Everton and Brentford also hot on his heels, this is not going to be a straightforward pursuit in any way.
