Leeds United curtail Elland Road upgrade work 49ers Enterprises wanted done this summer

Time will be too tight for Leeds United and 49ers Enterprises to carry out improvements on some aspects of Elland Road this summer, according to Leeds Live.

The outlet reported on its website on Tuesday (11 June) that the Whites intend on carrying out a number of minor improvements on the ground including a complete redevelopment of the north-east corner of the stadium.

Its concourse areas will be updated with new televisions and toilets accompanied by updated bars, while the Eddie Gray Suite in the Jack Charlton stand is being refurbished as part of work on the other hospitality areas.

Leeds also intend to improve the concourse, bar and toilet areas of the Don Revie Stand and the Norman Hunter Stand, however, they will not have time to complete this summer and will instead push such updates down the line.

Will Leeds United owners 49ers Enterprises redevelop Elland Road?

Ever since they took control of Leeds United last summer, 49ers Enterprises have made it clear that they want to redevelop and update Elland Road to bring it in line with the best grounds in the country.

While the stadium still produces a magnificent atmosphere and possesses plenty of history, it isn’t up to scratch with some of the more modern grounds in the Championship, let alone the riches of the Premier League.

Improving Elland Road will take money and investment, something the 49ers are more than willing to do, but they are limited by time and there is only so much work that can be done between now and the start of next season.

Supporters will have to settle for the improvements in the northeast corner of the ground first before looking forward to the refreshment of the concourses in other areas of the ground, but it will be done sooner rather than later.

All in all, this is a positive step in the right direction.
