Dan Bardell believes Gustavo Hamer is a Premier League quality player and would be a great signing for Leeds United before deadline day.

GiveMeSport reported on 28 August that the Whites were willing to submit a second bid for the 27-year-old who is prepared to move to Elland Road.

The Blades don't want to part with their star player and could demand a fee upwards of £15million for the Dutch midfielder.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks the former Coventry City man could command a Premier League move but would represent a top move for Daniel Farke's side.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bardell said: "He's a brilliant player at Championship level and I actually think he should be a Premier League player.

"I'm surprised that he is still at Sheffield United.

"You'd be looking at upwards of £15m for Hamer and I'm not sure Leeds would want to outlay that on a player.

"He is the best midfielder in the Championship and if Leeds get him that will really help them and make them stronger.

"Hamer should be playing at a higher level than the Championship so if Leeds can get him that would be a great signing."

Gustavo Hamer could leave Sheffield United for Leeds United

The midfielder was a standout player in an extremely disappointing campaign for the Blades as they were relegated without a fight.

With Chris Wilder's side now in the Championship, they have a top talent on their hands who could prove to be one of the best players in the second tier.

It would be a true statement of intent from Farke and Co. if they could bring the Dutchman in to add to their midfield conversation.

After losing Glen Kamara to Rennes earlier in the window, this is only going to make this potential signing even more important if it is to go through.

Spending over £15m on a player in this division could prove to be dangerous but if promotion is earned with Hamer being a starring cast member, it could be remembered as an excellent move.
