Leeds United are approaching an agreement with FC Utrecht for their winger Gyrano Kerk, according to De Telegraaf.

The Dutch outlet have reported on their website that the Whites are closing in on a deal that could be worth up to £9.1million.

It is suggested that the West Yorkshire side have beaten Italian duo Hellas Verona and Cagliari for Kerk's signature.

Kerk is described as a "lightning-fast" winger, with the 24-year-old having three years remaining on his current contract.

The winger was superb last season in the Eredivise, scoring 12 and delivering 10 assists for Utrecht, including important contributions against the likes of FC Twente.

The 24-year-old scored more goals than he was expected too, unlike Jack Harrison, who should have scored four more than he managed in the end.

Comparing Kerk to Harrison, the Utrecht winger managed to keep more than half of his shots on target - compared to the Leeds man's poor 33.7% [WyScout].

Phil Hay reported after the signing of Diego Llorente that the Whites wanted to bring in a central midfielder and a winger.

Ryan Kent of Rangers has been consistently mentioned throughout the summer, although his price tag may appear to be too steep, with Barry Ferguson claiming it could cost £20million.

Compare that to Kerk, who could be available for more than half of that and Victor Orta could have unveiled a hidden gem on the cheap.

With Leeds closing in on an agreement, it could be sooner rather than later before we see another signing at Elland Road.
