Increased financial clout from 49ers may give Victor Orta and Angus Kinnear Leeds United lifeline

The increased “financial clout” that the 49ers will provide Leeds United with may give Victor Orta and Angus Kinnear a Leeds United lifeline, according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay.

Hay replied to a question posed by a fan as to whether Orta and Kinnear would stay on in their roles at Leeds United when a full 49ers takeover takes place.

And whilst Hay initially believed their positions would be steady in a transitional period, some doubts have crossed the journalists’ mind due to the scrutiny of the way the club have been operating.

“These are the sort of questions that 49ers Enterprises would need to answer themselves. All the noises to this point suggested that if and when the group took control, changes at the top would be gradual rather than sweeping from the outset,” said Hay as quoted by The Athletic. (3 March)

“My impression for a long time was that Kinnear and Orta would stay on, certainly in the transitional period. 49ers Enterprises regarded them as assets. But given the way this season and last season have gone, there will have to be close scrutiny of the way Leeds are operating — and whether the setup is right for the longer term.

“It’s been a battle from the summer of 2021 onwards. To be fair, increased financial clout would allow the club to change how they work.”

2024.

Things will likely become a lot clearer by 2024 over who will be in the Leeds United boardroom and what faces will be joining the fold at Elland Road.

One thing that is pretty much a certainty at this point is that a full takeover will happen by the 49ers at some point during next year.

Whether they take over a team in the profitable Premier League or the Championship may slightly change the price they are willing to pay, however.

Fans have already seen the kind of influence the 49ers have had on transfer spending in January and with full control, more prosperous windows are likely for the club.

Andrea Radrizanni has done all he can in West Yorkshire and there is a general feeling around Elland Road that change is needed to take the team to another level.

Whether Orta and Kinnear are part of the 49ers’ long-term vision remains to be seen, but they both could profit from the cash influx they provide.

It would certainly make their jobs a lot easier.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are already considering a change of manager in the summer with this Englishman being eyed up by the club.
