Finance Expert reacts as Leeds United to stick with SBOTOP sponsorship deal
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Leeds United and SBOTOP wanting to continue their partnership is good for both parties, although their valuations may change.
The Athletic has reported that the Whites are set to stick with the betting firm as their front-of-shirt sponsor, despite many other clubs remaining more flexible with their deals.
The Finance Expert admits that these will always be factors considered by the club and company when negotiating over their future commitments to each other.

“What a lot of clubs and sponsors are doing now are factoring that in,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“We see a lot more short-term deals or deals with performance-related clauses in them to account for that risk.
“It’s good for the club that if SBOTOP want to extend that deal and the value has been pretty good, but behind the scenes, you would expect that variation in what the deal is worth, dependent on league status as yet again, we need to factor in the sponsor deals and you can easily knock £2million of each individual deal linked to that as well.
“That will be the factor for the sponsor and the club will be mindful of that when negotiating as well.”

Leeds United have seen huge commercial growth since returning to the Premier League.
Adidas set the trend when become the kit manufacturer, and things have only gone from strength-to-strength, and that will only keep skyrocketing should the Whites keep their Premier League status.
That is the goal for everyone from the top to the bottom at Elland Road, so getting that new manager in could help that massively in the coming weeks and months.
