ESPN journalist: Leeds in hunt for £80k/wk PL int'l, will be free agent & has played for Bielsa

Leeds United are interested in two Chilean players – Claudio Bravo and Mauricio Isla – according to ESPN journalist Maks Cárdenas.

Isla, a 32-year-old right-back, is a free agent after leaving Fenerbahce in June but is also wanted by Manuel Pellegrini at Real Betis.

The report in alairelibre claims that Leeds have contacted Isla and are also interested in Man City keeper Bravo, who is out of contract at the end of this season.

Both players have worked under Bielsa before, playing for Chile during Bielsa's time there from 2007-2011.

Transfer madness

So many names are being linked with Leeds at the moment, it's hard to keep up with it all.

Bravo has actually been linked with Leeds before, back in February by Chilean outlet En Cancha.

The 37-year-old has made four Premier League games for Many City this season, 17 appearances in total including the cups, and didn't look out of place at the top-flight giants.

We'd prefer him to another former Man City keeper, Joe Hart, who has also been linked with a move to Leeds.

The City star's £80,000-per-week contract is up at the end of the season [Source: Spotrac] and those wages would be an obvious hurdle to any move.

At 37, he's not the young, progressive signing Leeds fans would want, and the club currently doesn't have the need for a keeper.

Kiko Casilla and Illan Meslier are fighting for the gloves, although if Casilla was to leave after his ban for racist abuse, there would be a need for an experienced stopper.

The fact that Casilla started on Sunday against Derby suggests that he does have a future at the club.

Both players have a huge amount of experience at the highest level – Bravo has 123 caps for Chile while Isla is just behind him with 115 caps.
