Daniel Farke emerges as leading Leeds United candidate amid Friday twist

Daniel Farke has emerged as the leading candidate for the vacant managerial role at Leeds United, according to The Daily Mail.

It’s believed the German is now in pole position to take over after holding talks with the board on Friday (Daily Mail, 22 June).

Patrick Vieira was also shortlisted along with Scott Parker, however, it’s understood the board have now opened talks over terms with Farke.

Found their man

It feels as if Leeds are finally closing in on their main man.

Farke has been there and done it in the Championship. The German got Norwich promoted whilst playing some decent football in the second tier. It’s now about getting Leeds to play in a similar manner.

There are a number of talented players within this squad and it’s now up to the new manager to get the best out of what could be a promotion-winning side.

The first and primary thought has to be promotion – and an immediate return at that. The German knows exactly what is needed to get out of the second tier.

If he could repeat the trick at Elland Road, he will be lauded. At present, he probably looks like the most sensible appointment.

Vieira has also been mentioned. It feels as if he would have been more of a long-term appointment for the Whites but not a safe pair of hands in the second tier.

Let’s hope the board make a decision in the coming days.
