Charlie Crew returned to Leeds United in January after a loan spell at Doncaster Rovers.

The 19-year-old returned to the Eco-Power Stadium in the summer as he agreed a second loan stint in Yorkshire.

His first spell in League Two was positive and prompted Grant McCann to bring the Wales international back for another stint, this time in League One.

The January transfer window saw the midfielder return to Elland Road as his temporary stint in the third tier was cut short.

Crew returned to Leeds, but is yet to feature for the first team in LS11, as MOT Leeds News rounds up what we know about his contract.

What is Charlie Crew's contract situation at Leeds United?

The teenager is seen as one of the brightest prospects in Yorkshire right now despite making just one senior appearance so far.

A loan spell with Doncaster allowed him to pick up some much-needed minutes and develop as a professional.

His return to Elland Road hasn't been met with any game time, although that won't come as a surprise with the relegation battle in full swing.

Crew has featured regularly for the under-21s side from January onwards, despite signing a professional contract in the summer of 2023 before extending that in 2024.

Charlie Crew LEEDS UNITED CONTRACT EXPIRY

His latest deal will keep him with Leeds United until 2028, with a reported yearly salary in the region of £52,000.

That equates to £1,000 per week for Crew as he still faces an uncertain future at Leeds, as fears emerge over his development.

Why did Crew leave Doncaster Rovers?

It was a surprise that the Welshman returned to LS11 early, midway through his second stint with Doncaster.

His first loan spell was massively positive, and he received great reviews to the point that they brought him back after promotion.

For whatever reason, things just didn't work out in League One, and Donny boss McCann has put it down to his international commitments.

Speaking in December, he said: "Charlie has been stop-start, and the international breaks haven’t helped him, going away two or three times.

"He probably hasn’t got to the levels that I thought he would do, and that he showed last year."

That sums up the issues he has faced, but it is ironic that the form that got him into the Wales national team has been scuppered by his call-ups.

Hopefully, he will be able to strike a balance and halt that from negatively impacting his career.
