Leeds United playing for millions as Premier League payouts explained
Leeds United have bounced back to life in the Premier League in recent weeks.
Daniel Farke was days from the sack at Elland Road, but changes at Manchester City led to a win over Chelsea and positive draws versus Liverpool and Brentford.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been at the heart of this revival, and will even have one eye on the 2026 World Cup with England if it continues.
It’s not just Premier League survival that Leeds are playing for, though.

Premier League millions on the line at Elland Road
Dan Plumley has revealed that each spot in the Premier League is worth just under £3million in merit payments, making every game worth something.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, the football finance expert revealed that the numbers will have increased, with Wolves earning just above £123m last season for finishing 16th, as an example.
“Each place in terms of merit payments is worth around £2.7m based on last year’s figures,” Plumley said.
“We are at the start of a new deal now, though, so there is scope for that figure to increase slightly.

“We just haven’t seen the actual numbers yet.
“In terms of total TV money, using 24/25 figures for reference, the 16th-place team earned £123.1m, but they were only on TV 15 times in that season.”

Where are Leeds in the Premier League table?
Ahead of the busy Christmas, Leeds are currently 17th.
Most fans at Elland Road would have taken not being in the bottom three when preparing to eat their festive dinners, with one game to go until then.
Leeds take on Crystal Palace next at Elland Road on Saturday, before finishing the year with a trip to Sunderland and the Stadium of Light.
If the Whites can take points at home again over the weekend, West Ham face Manchester City, with many predicting a defeat for the Irons.
The best-case scenario could see Leeds six points clear of the bottom three on Christmas Day, in what would be the perfect start to this period.
