'So happy' - Manchester City star sends Instagram message after invite to Leeds win v Millwall

Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy was visibly delighted after Leeds United managed to pick up three points against Millwall on Tuesday.

The French international was invited to Elland Road by new signing Jean-Kevin Augustin and was blown away as the Whites came from two goals down to win 3-2 in West Yorkshire.

Augustin was also in dreamland, claiming after the game that the atmosphere was incredible and that he couldn’t wait to pull on the white shirt.

Mendy posted a message on his personal Instagram account after the game, thanking Augustin for the invite to the game. He also opened up on his reunion with Marcelo Bielsa at the clash.

“What a game!! Thanks for the invite Jean-Kevin Augustin and so happy to see Marcelo again,” he wrote.

It was some game for the French duo to take in on their first matchday visit to Elland Road. It could have ended badly though, with Leeds 2-0 down when the half-time whistle went.

Goals from Patrick Bamford and one from Pablo Hernandez turned it around and gave both Mendy and Augustin a taste of the famous atmosphere that the Whites fanbase can create in West Yorkshire.

Bamford was superb in the victory and could make Augustin wait a little longer for his debut. The 26-year-old had nine shots on goal and completed two key passes [WhoScored]. The forward had only managed three key passes in the previous 10 outings to highlight his improvement.

Many Leeds fans were left dreaming of Mendy joining the club after the post, but let’s keep our feet firmly on the ground and admit that is very unlikely in the near future.
