Slaven Bilic responds to Leeds form and 'job done' claims in promotion race

Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa are no strangers to receiving praise from opposition managers in the past two years.

The form that got them that praise has dropped in recent weeks. Along with that, the same comments have turned into managers such as Garry Monk claiming he has the upper hand over his former club.

West Brom boss Slaven Bilic has recently responded to earlier claims that his side and Leeds had earned promotion already – shutting them down instantly.

“Maybe some people were saying, thinking or writing that it’s job done for us and Leeds. But I said before it’s not,” he said, via Leeds Live.

“Everything starts now, everything that has happened before doesn’t matter.

“It starts now. There is still a long, long way to go.”

Bielsa has never reacted to the praise he has received before though. The Argentinian has become much-more serious this season and is more determined than ever to secure promotion to the Premier League.

After last season’s failures in West Yorkshire, Bielsa will make sure that his Leeds squad are taking it game-by-game. Any suggestions of the job being done have certainly come from the outside – surely Bilic will understand that being in a similar position.

Leeds deserve that praise though, and compared to the Baggies, they deserve that place massively. They should actually hold a much-bigger gap at the top of the league as highlighted by this graph.
