Sky Sports pundit: Leeds need to be concerned about 'huge worry' in recent weeks

The 2-0 defeat on Saturday for Leeds United against Sheffield Wednesday meant that the Whites have only won one of their last six Championship games.

Fans are starting to fear the worst in West Yorkshire, with everyone suffering flashbacks from last season’s collapse in the league.

Even with that poor run of form, Leeds are still six points clear of the play-offs. Another winning run like the one from before Christmas would see them cement that spot.

Sky Sports pundit Keith Andrews has recently commented on the potential of Leeds slipping up, and he pinpointed the defence as a major worry.

“I think they need to be concerned, obviously, because of the run that they’re on,” he said on the EFL Sky Sports podcast.

“I think defensively would be a huge worry as well because when you look at the goals they’ve conceded, none more so than in that bonkers game against Birmingham.

“But, they have been conceding regularly, and that wasn’t always the case last year. In recent weeks, that slip maybe adds that into the fact that they’re not finishing chances.

It is clear though that defensive players such as Kiko Casilla are struggling though, Andrews is spot on with that suggestion. The Spaniard has been poor against Cardiff and Birmingham recently, and his efforts against the Owls were no better.

Being beaten at your front post is basic, and for a Champions League winner to be doing that, it simply isn’t good enough. If you can’t win, don’t lose, and Leeds failed to do that on Saturday – something that will make concerns even bigger at Elland Road.
