Leeds may be wise to swerve Femi Azeez deal as Ipswich plot eight-figure financial investment
Leeds United should proceed with caution over a move for Femi Azeez, as his reported price range would be a huge financial gamble for the Whites.
With just one more game to go in their 2025-26 Premier League season, and with their top-flight status comfortably secured, Elland Road sights will now be set on the upcoming summer transfer window.
Daniel Farke will be expecting to be backed significantly in the market over the coming months, as he’s performed a fantastic job to have the Whites in with a chance of finishing the term on 50 points.
That would be a superb return for the Whites in their first season back at the level, and one that not many fans nor pundits alike had them down for at the start of term.
But, that isn’t to say that there aren’t any holes or areas to improve in his squad, but as always, Leeds will be looking for shrewd financial investments this summer.

What’s been said about Femi Azeez’s possible price tag?
Leeds have consistently proven down the years that they aren’t afraid to take transfer gambles on young, and relatively unproven talents at the respective level of football they’re plying their trade in at the time.
They also aren’t a club that goes throwing huge sums of money around on individual players, with this season’s summer window filled with shrewd investments on both young and established players.

Many names will be linked with a move to Elland Road this summer, and one that has already been mooted for a potential move to Leeds is Millwall’s Azeez.
The 24-year-old was shortlisted for the Championship’s Player of the Season award, and also claimed a spot in the EFL Team of the Season after scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists in the second tier this season.
However, in a fresh report from Alan Nixon via Patreon, newly-promoted Ipswich Town are now at the front of the queue to sign Azeez, but his signature won’t come cheap.

Nixon’s report claims that the Tractor Boys are looking to strike a deal for him in the region of £15 to 20million, with Millwall holding out for as much money as possible.
Ipswich are said to be confident they can fend off rival interest in Azeez, and would ideally like to get the deal completed ASAP.
Why Azeez would be risky Leeds signing at £15-20m
That sort of price range is a lot of money to be splashing on a player with Azeez’s profile, and it would come with numerous major risks for Leeds.
Firstly, prior to the 2025-26 season, Azeez had only scored four career goals and seven assists at Championship level, with this term being the first time he’s ever hit double figures for goals in a single campaign.
Secondly, he will be 25 by the time the 2026-27 season starts, so for a player who is now entering his prime years, that’s not exactly career production that leaps off the page.
Thirdly, Azeez is primarily a right winger, having rarely been deployed in a central role throughout his career, and this could be a big issue for Leeds as Farke looks to be pressing on with his wing-backs approach.
That system doesn’t accommodate wingers, and so unless he was to revert to a back four next season, which seems unlikely due to the success he’s had with a back three, Azeez wouldn’t be an obvious fit in his side.
All of these things considered then, and if Azeez would set Leeds back up to £20m this summer, that’s perhaps money that the Whites would be better off spending elsewhere.
