Phil Hay shares 49ers Enterprises news as Andrea Radrizzani speaks out at Leeds United
Phil Hay has insisted that the 49ers Enterprises will not be throwing money of an “oil-rich” nation at Leeds United once they complete their takeover at Elland Road.
It comes after Andrea Radrizzani spoke out in the past week to admit that more money is needed to move forward, suggesting that a full takeover by the Americans is close.
Hay shared that a passing of the baton is a stronger bet going forward after Newcastle have shown what a takeover can do for a club in the Premier League.
Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic on Monday 02 January, Hay made an interesting comparison to what is happening behind the scenes at our latest opponents, Newcastle.
“Nobody is pretending that 49ers Enterprises, the group waiting in the wings to buy out Radrizzani, plans to throw the wealth of an oil-rich nation at Elland Road but the baton passing should be the next step for Leeds, the next piece of progress, a stronger bet going forward,” he wrote.
It has been clear for a long, long time that the 49ers are here for the long term.
Paraag Marathe has been centre-stage of this with Radrizzani, and he continues to show himself alongside the Italian, with talks and plans in place going forward.
Leeds need that injection of cash that they have been missing since their big spend upon returning to the Premier League, with money hard to come by since it appears.
Fans have been desperate for money to be spent in transfer windows, and it simply hasn’t happened despite glaring holes in the squad such as a number nine – don’t get us started.
With the 49ers and new ideas at the helm, it looks as though things will change, but not dramatically, with more money available, but maybe not the urge to blow it all at once.
That is smart, but Leeds will know that having that strong financial backing is the difference between fighting relegation every year or pushing for Europe.
Let’s hope it is the latter, bring it on.
