Phil Hay claims Leeds win v Birmingham 'Made a point' over 'Crucial' Whites ace
With Patrick Bamford missing the game with a dead leg, Eddie Nketiah finally got his opportunity to start a game for Leeds United.
The former Middlesbrough man has become a pivotal part of Marcelo Bielsa’s side after facing heavy criticism at the beginning of the campaign.
Bamford’s ability to now offer a massive physical presence which allows him to hold up the ball has made him one of the best lone strikers in the Championship.
One Leeds fan claimed that despite scoring five goals, the Whites missed Bamford, with his presence in the final third missed according to a number of different people.
“Yes, I agree,” he wrote on an Athletic Q&A after the crazy game.
“Nketiah did graft hard but he’s not as suited to that type of role as Bamford who knows how to stand up for himself physically. In a lot of ways it made a point today – that Bamford is crucial to the team.”

It seems harsh to suggest that after scoring our most away goals in over more than 15 years, but despite those strikes, Nketiah never really had an opportunity to score one himself.
With Nketiah waving to the away fans after being substituted in the final 15 minutes, it could suggest that Arsenal have made a decision surrounding his future at Elland Road, and it could work out that his first Championship start for Leeds could be his final appearance at all for the club.
