'One to watch' - Reliable journalist shares 'whispers' heard about potential Bielsa replacement
No one wants to think about life at Leeds United after Marcelo Bielsa right now.
It hasn't been this rosy in West Yorkshire since the Premier League, and should the Whites reach the top-flight next season, El Loco is expected to stay on at Elland Road.
There have been many names thrown into the hat as to who could eventually replace Bielsa, our very own Carlos Corberan also in contention.
Another former Leeds man, Lee Bowyer has been touted as a potential replacement. Leeds Live journalist Joe Mewis has added to that suggestion.
"There have been whispers that the Elland Road hierarchy have tagged him as one to watch when it comes to their next head coach and his successful Leeds playing career means that he would have the backing of the crowd."
So, one to watch? It wouldn't be the most inspiring of choices to replace Bielsa, but he would definitely get the backing giving his success at Elland Road in his playing career.
Bowyer has impressed at Charlton during his first reign as a manager, but that isn't exactly enough to prove that he could do the same at Leeds, with the two clubs in totally different places right now.
To go from Bielsa to Bowyer is underwhelming and if Leeds earn promotion to the Premier League and become established past this season, his name would surely be scratched off the shortlist.
Let's all hope that Bielsa stays at Elland Road for the foreseeable future and that Bowyer's name can remain a whisper until he proves himself on a bigger stage.
