Micky Gray claims 18-goal forward is 'exactly' what Leeds need in promotion push

It was another afternoon of disappointment for Leeds United and Patrick Bamford against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

The 26-year-old missed a number of clear chances in London during the 1-0 defeat, including a penalty that was saved by Liam Kelly.

It has led to Leeds fans starting to get disgruntled once again, with a number of different forwards in the Championship continuing to excel – Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ollie Watkins just to name two.

Responding to a fan claim on his personal Twitter account, former Whites defender Micky Gray has claimed that Mitrovic is exactly what Leeds need.

“That’s exactly who they need,” he wrote.

The Serbian talisman has already caused Leeds a number of problems this season. He scored from the penalty spot and forced his physicality upon Ben White for 90 minutes in the 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage.

There are many different reasons why Leeds couldn’t move for the 18-goal forward. Mitrovic is currently injured, so there isn’t any chance of him leaving the Cottagers.

On top of that, the striker would be worth upwards of nearly £30million, and with financial fair play rules creeping in – Leeds are in no position to spend anywhere near that total.

All it takes is for a striker to go on a good run of form. We believe in Bamford, and should he score next time out against Millwall, he could start to recapture that confidence he desperately needs.
