'He's God and he knows everything' – Former Leeds star takes dig at Bielsa, prefers new manager

Pontus Jansson has quickly been forgotten at Leeds United. The Swede left the club in the summer but was quickly replaced by Ben White.

The Brighton loanee has been superb since arriving in West Yorkshire and has formed part of the best defence in Europe’s top five divisions and the Football League.

Many instantly thought the worst when Jansson was sold. There is no hiding the influence he had at the club, but White has no doubt taken Leeds to the next level.

Jansson has recently commented on Marcelo Bielsa, claiming that the Argentine had a huge influence on everyone at Thorp Arch when arriving.

“Marcelo is mental in everything that he sees about football,” he told the Sun.

“But with the name Marcelo Bielsa you get so much for free and as a player you just have to show him respect.”

Jansson went on to reveal that he prefers working under Thomas Frank at Brentford, as he has a closer relationship with the coach being captain of the club.

“I would say I prefer a coach (Frank) you can talk with. You don’t have to be able to talk about life in general but just football.

“You could do that with Marcelo but not as much because he’s God and he knows everything so you just have to listen.”

When you compare White to Jansson this season via WhoScored, it is clear to see who is more suited to Bielsa’s system.

White has completed more interceptions as well as more than double the amount of tackles in the Championship. More importantly, White has also completed more passes in each game this season.

Leeds have forgotten about Jansson very quickly, and Bielsa is clearly happier with White in the heart of his defence this season – with the results there for everyone to see.
