Marcelo Bielsa spends summer devising new Leeds injury prevention plan
Marcelo Bielsa has spent the summer with Leeds United creating a new injury prevention plan at Thorp Arch.
The Guardian has reported the news on their website, with El Loco unable to return home to Argentina because of COVID-19.
It is claimed that Bielsa has worked closely with medics and the sports strategists in West Yorkshire to create the new plan.
As shared by the Guardian in their Premier League review for next season, Bielsa's work has been brought forward.
"Has Bielsa taken a single day off this close-season?" they wrote.
"Unable to visit family in Argentina because of Covid travel restrictions, Bielsa spent supposed holiday time working with medics and sports scientists devising an enhanced injury prevention strategy."
Not working yet?
The early signs of this new plan are not exactly filling us with hope.
Although some injuries are unavoidable, such as the head knock picked up by Jamie Shackleton against Ajax, the muscle problems continue.
Diego Llorente and Junior Firpo look to face a race against time to be fit for the opening day clash with Manchester United next week.
Both could feature this evening in our final friendly with Villareal, but if they don't, fans will start to get nervous over the trip to Old Trafford.
Bielsa will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last season, where the likes of Llorente, Robin Koch and Kalvin Phillips were regularly injured.
Head of medicine Rob Price is one of the best in the game, though, and he will surely be working closely with Bielsa to create this plan.
Hopefully, it comes to fruition soon.
