Leeds United are now locked in triple contract talks with Joe Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville and Sam Greenwood, according to Phil Hay.

The Athletic journalist has shared that the Whites will begin the finalise those proceedings this week, meaning they could all be announced before the Wolves game.

Summerville, Gelhardt and Greenwood were all missing against Cagliari but did feature against Manchester City in a behind-scenes friendly on Saturday afternoon instead [31 July].

Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic on Monday morning [01 August], Hay shared the brilliant news coming from behind the scenes at Elland Road.

“There was no role for Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood or Crysencio Summerville against Cagliari but only because Leeds took part in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Manchester City on Saturday and all three players were involved in that,” he wrote.

“All three are also involved in negotiations over new contracts and Leeds plan to begin finalising those proceedings this week, making sure they are protected by longer deals.”

These three are the future of Leeds attacks and they have all been superb in recent months.

Summerville would like to have broken through more than he has compared to Gelhardt and Greenwood, but that is certainly coming under Jesse Marsch.

With Raphinha sold, Dan James suspended and Luis Sinisterra likely out injured, that chance could come sooner rather than later against Wolves in the Premier League opener.

All three will most likely start on the bench, but they have all proved they can be real problems in the Premier League, and that is what the club would have wanted to have seen.

Now, they can happily reward them with new bumper contracts with the confidence that they can do the business if called upon, something which should become more consistent throughout the next few years.

Gelhardt is the main guy though, we all know that, and he is now really set to explode at Elland Road and will continue to do so for many years.

Bring it on.
