Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach rank among Premier League elite with stunning stat

Leeds have produced some brilliant performances in the Premier League this season.

The Peacocks currently sit 15th in the Premier League table, although they’ll feel that points have slipped away from them against Fulham and Bournemouth.

Leeds made 10 summer signings under Daniel Farke, yet Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff have arguably been the most impressive of the lot.

The central midfielders have been excellent throughout the season, and one key stat has shown why their availability will be of paramount importance in Leeds’ bid to avoid Premier League relegation.

Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff among Premier League’s elite in key stat

Stach has been exceptional for Leeds this season and has started the last six matches in all competitions.

As for Longstaff, he has been a driving force in the centre of the park, and his physical presence has proved to be vital for Leeds.

Stach and Longstaff have created 14 and 13 chances respectively, with only Bruno Fernandes and Jack Grealish exceeding 14.

The midfield duo are also the only players to register an assist for Leeds this season, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s poor form preventing them from upping their tallies.

In Leeds’ 3-1 win away to Wolves, Stach’s superb curling free-kick sent the travelling fans into raptures as they recorded their first top-flight away win since their 4-2 win on the same ground in March 2023.

Longstaff showcased his brilliance against Bournemouth, registering a goal and assist as Leeds were pegged back in the last minute during the 2-2 draw.

If both players remain fit throughout the course of the season, then Leeds will continue to get a lot of attacking joy under Farke.

However, both players have Ethan Ampadu to thank for some of the plaudits they have received this season.

Ethan Ampadu crucial for Leeds’ creativity

Ethan Ampadu’s return to the heart of the team has certainly provided Stack and Longstaff with more freedom.

Whilst his role in the team is focused on shielding the back four, his stability allows for his midfield partners to pick up advanced positions in the final third.

Often the unsung hero, the captain has emerged into a top-quality holding midfielder for Leeds, and his importance on the team cannot be understated.

Leeds were tipped for relegation at the start of the season, yet their key stars are ensuring that they won’t be in a survival battle as the season progresses.
