Leeds United will announce the major new transfer of Joel Robles in the next seven days, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist has reported that the 32-year-old will join as a free agent after his contract at Real Betis expired at the end of last season.

Jesse Marsch spoke today [04 August] of his need for a new experienced goalkeeper, with the Spaniard now signing on at Elland Road.

Victor Orta has moved quickly to get a new goalkeeper to the club with injury worries already starting to grow.

Kristoffer Klaesson is currently nursing an ankle injury leaving Illan Meslier as the only senior goalkeeper in the group right now at Thorp Arch.

Robles has tonnes of experience at Everton, Real Betis and Atletico Madrid as he looks to have another shot at the Premier League, this time at Elland Road.

Get it done.

This looks all done right now with the announcement to come.

Smyth shares that Robles will be announced, so it may be safe to assume that a deal has been agreed and possibly even a medical is already done.

This is a smart move and it ticks all of the boxes needed.

Robles will likely have been told that Meslier will remain the number one choice at Elland Road and that he will be used sparingly maybe in the cup competitions.

He will work closely with fellow Spaniard, Marcos Abad, and help develop the rich group of talent we currently have in our goalkeeping department.

With Kiko Casilla leaving, money is available and that looks to have been used smartly to bring his fellow countryman to the club which should be announced very soon.
