Leeds United takeover deal sealed with announcement mooted on Friday - Phil Hay

Talks between Andrea Radrizzani and San Francisco 49ers in the last 24 hours have led to a resolution in the Leeds United takeover.

According to Phil Hay, an announcement can be expected on Friday night, 9 June, of the takeover being completed.

While it may require approval from the EFL, Leeds are finally set to have new ownership.

Via Twitter, Hay wrote, “Talks over the past 24 hrs have sealed a deal between Andrea Radrizzani and 49ers Enterprises for the sale of Leeds United. Announcement expected tonight. Takeover needs EFL approval. But Leeds finally headed for new ownership.”

The long-drawn Leeds takeover saga finally appears to have come to an end and this will be a relief for the fans especially.

They have seen Radrizzani treat the club like an asset he can mortgage to further his other businesses.

Towards the back end of the campaign, it even became clear that he does not care about the club as he wasn’t even present for the final game at Elland Road.

This was an indicator that his attention had drifted to Sampdoria and it’s a good thing it’s happened at the start of the window.

The new owners can now come in, appoint a sporting director and a manager and begin plans for the upcoming season.
