Newcastle vs Leeds United postponement latest as Met Office issue new warning and Storm Goretti update
Leeds United travel to Newcastle on Wednesday as they look to extend their impressive Premier League unbeaten run.
Leeds are seven unbeaten after their 1-1 draw against Manchester United, but St James’ Park will produce another tough encounter.
Daniel Farke has Ethan Ampadu back available from suspension, with the possibility of Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle also returning.
Newcastle remain favourites on 7 January, but it won’t just be matters on the pitch making things tricky.
Storm Goretti is set to hit England this week from France, with rain, snow and ice expected.
Will Newcastle vs Leeds United be postponed?
It’s not only Storm Goretti that’s an issue, with the Met Office also creating a yellow weather warning for ice, which covers almost the entirety of England and Scotland.
Some injuries are expected due to slippery terrain, making travel to and around St James’ Park difficult.
With undersoil heating and the facilities available to Premier League clubs in the modern day, however, no postponement is currently expected.
One thing for certain, though: fans can expect bitterly cold conditions with storms approaching from either side of Newcastle this week.

Newcastle and Leeds United team news
Dan James is certainly out of contention for this one, although Sean Longstaff’s return to the bench against Man United was huge news.
Longstaff signed for Leeds from Newcastle and looks likely to feature at St James’ Park on Wednesday.
As for the Magpies, Jacob Murphy is a doubt, while Anthony Elanga, Dan Burn, Emil Krafth and Will Osula are all confirmed to be out
Eddie Howe has faced several fitness issues recently at St James’ Park, so it could be a straightforward team selection for the Magpies.
Farke has question marks around the fitness of Ilia Gruev, Sebastiaan Bornauw and James Justin after they were thrown in the deep end this week, but a rest is coming after this one.
Leeds will be desperate to keep up their positive run, and Nottingham Forest beating West Ham on Tuesday would send them north with a definite eight-point gap to the bottom three.
