Leeds United news as uncertainty surrounds Javi Gracia future already
Javi Gracia is still living out of a suitcase in a hotel as “uncertainty” still clouds his Leeds United future, according to The Mirror Football.
The Spaniard took the reins on 25 February and has taken four points from his three Premier League fixtures in charge of the Yorkshire side.
However, the 52-year-old is on a flexible contract at Elland Road and is remaining very tight-lipped about his future beyond the end of the 2022/23 season.
“At the end of the season, we will see. At this moment, I am only focused on trying to finish the only way that I think the club and the players deserve,” said the Leeds boss (The Mirror Football, pg 7, 18 March).
Short term thinking
Everything at Leeds United has to be short-term planning at present. Avoiding relegation is an absolute requirement. Decisions on staff and players will be heavily impacted depending on which league the club find itself in.

There has to be some level of sympathy towards Gracia and his situation. Everyone is aware that he wasn’t the club’s number-one choice. Andoni Iraola was believed to be the board’s primary target and if the club secure its Premier League survival, a move for the Rayo Vallecano boss cannot be ruled out.
Gracia is in a position where he could be out of a job no matter what he achieves come the end of the season. If he keeps Leeds up, many will feel he deserves a shot at the Elland Road job long-term, and that’s a fair assumption.
Saturday’s fixture against Wolves (18 March) is a golden opportunity for his side to pull themselves back out of the relegation zone. There are nine teams firmly entrenched in the dogfight and a run of wins could be absolutely vital.
In other Leeds news, one Elland Road hero has admitted he “was angry” at Jesse Marsch after his exit was confirmed but he hopes to return one day.
