Leeds United locked in talks to sign 'leading' target Luis Sinisterra before Australia - Phil Hay

Leeds United are now locked in talks with Feyenoord to sign Luis Sinisterra, according to Phil Hay.

The Athletic journalist has reported that the Colombian has emerged as a “leading” contender to replace the outgoing Raphinha, who is set to leave imminently.

The Whites are looking to step up their incoming business ahead of the flight to Australia this week, with Fabrizio Romano sharing that personal terms are already agreed.

Writing in his latest column for The Athletic, Hay shared the latest regarding the potential move with things starting to move very quickly at the start of this week.

“Leeds United are in talks with Feyenoord over a deal for winger Luis Sinisterra,” he wrote.

“Expectation of Raphinha’s departure from Leeds has put the club in the market for a new winger and Colombian Sinisterra has emerged as a leading target with the club looking to step up incoming business ahead of their pre-season tour to Australia.”

One in, One out.

So, it looks as though we will be keeping that South American flair on the wing at Elland Road.

Comparing Sinisterra to Raphinha, Leeds are going to have much more pace available out wide now, but he still has that skilful edge which will make him more than a handful for defenders.

The 23-year-old is younger, featured more in European football, and even scored more goals than the Brazilian last season, hitting 12 in the Eredivisie, as well as seven assists.

That isn’t us saying this will be an instant upgrade, given how much Raphinha gave us and how well he performed in his two years at the club, but this is now a fresh start.

Raphinha clearly wants to leave, and we want players here who are ready to give their all to the shirt, and Sinisterra could be the next in line to become a hero in West Yorkshire.

With the flight to Australia booked at the end of the week, it could be a very busy six days at Elland Road.
