Leeds keen on forward involved in nine goals in 19/20 - report

If there is one thing that Saturday’s 3-3 draw against Cardiff proved, it was that Eddie Nketiah doesn’t give Leeds United what they need off the bench sometimes.

The Arsenal loanee came on and struggled in the final third, and although he was involved in the tackle that saw Sean Morrison sent off, he didn’t apply any sort of pressure to their defensive line.

Talk of the young forward being recalled by the Gunners in the market has increased, but after that showing, Leeds fans surely wouldn’t mind seeing that happen.

That would leave Victor Orta looking for a replacement in the window, and he would surely need to act quickly to bring in back up to Patrick Bamford.

TEAMtalk have reported that Leeds have entered the hunt to sign Dundee United forward Louis Appere alongside a number of different clubs.

The online outlet has claimed that Celtic, Rangers, Brentford, Bournemouth and Norwich City are all interested in the 20-year-old, who is rated at £2.5million by the Tangerines.

Appere has been in good form alongside Lawrence Shankland, being involved in nine goals in his 22 appearances so far in all competitions.

Leeds already have one too many loanees in their side, meaning that Illan Meslier often has to sit out of the matchday squad.

Losing Nketiah and bringing in Appere on a permanent deal would certainly ease one headache for Bielsa, as he would have a young striker of his own to work with and mould into his style.

Should Arsenal utilise their recall clause, Leeds need to find a replacement and Orta could have lined up his man – now there is only the small task of having to beat a number of different clubs to his signature should the Whites need to strengthen in January.
