Leeds United in advanced talks with Leicester City to sell Jack Harrison, Nicolo Zaniolo lined up as replacement
Leeds are in advanced talks to sell Jack Harrison to Leicester on deadline day, with Nicolo Zaniolo lined up as his replacement according to Get Italian Football News.
The Foxes want to sign Harrison to bolster their attacking options, and the Whites are said to be open to offers as he has just 18 months remaining on his contract at Elland Road.
But a fresh report on Tuesday morning (31 Jan) says talks between the club are advanced, and that Leeds have already eyed up Roma ace Zaniolo as his replacement on deadline day.
"The Whites currently see Zaniolo as a replacement for Jack Harrison and they are in advanced talks to sell the player to Leicester City," they wrote (31 January).
Advanced
It's a surprise to hear that Leeds and Leicester are in advanced talks for the sale of Harrison, because most reports have suggested that the player wasn't particularly moved about a transfer.
However with Zaniolo's potential transfer picking up pace ahead of deadline day, there is every chance that this deal also moves quickly.
Harrison would be a big miss at Leeds, with his excellent dribbling and work rate off the ball key elements as to why he has been so key for Jesse Marsch over the last 12 months or so.
But it can't be disputed that he has lost his place to younger, more exciting players in Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto as well as the new club-record signing of Georginio Rutter coming in.
With not much time on his contract left, it could be the perfect time to cash in on him and this could be their last chance to do that, so it wouldn't be the biggest surprise if he did leave.
