Leeds United have 'excellent replacement' lined up for Tyler Adams at Elland Road - Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson believes Marc Roca is an “excellent” replacement for Tyler Adams after the American international underwent surgery on a hamstring issue.

BBC Sport report (28 March) that the 24-year-old now faces an “extended period” on the sidelines having previously been a mainstay of Leeds’ midfield.

However, Robinson feels the Yorkshire side have the strength in depth to cover the American international during his absence.

“You obviously want your best players fit but with Tyler Adams out you’ve got an excellent replacement in Marc Roca,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“If Roca or McKennie were to get injured then I think they’d have a problem on their hands.

“They will miss Adams because he’s a top player but they have got cover in that area. I don’t think you can carry too many defensive midfielders, they’ve got Pascal Struijk who can play there and has done in the past.”

Injury expert, Ben Dinnery, has suggested the 24-year-old’s season could be over and Leeds will be desperate for this not to be the case.

Elsewhere, the Whites are also sweating on the fitness of Willy Gnonto, with the Italian sustaining an injury whilst on international duty.

n other Leeds United news, lines of communication are open between the Whites and another club about an incoming deal but it could also increase the chances of an exit being negotiated at the same time.
