Leeds United set for £14m annual boost as ‘huge’ developments confirmed – Expert

Leeds United are finally pushing ahead with their plans to expand Elland Road.

The 49ers Enterprises have transformed Leeds with their investment, and a return to the Premier League was just the first step.

Daniel Farke has Leeds five points outside of the relegation zone ahead of a trip to Everton on Monday, with survival more than a possibility.

Should that be achieved, Elland Road works will start immediately with the goal to expand capacity up to 53,000 in LS11.

Leeds set to be boosted by millions

Dan Plumley has insisted the expansion works at Elland Road will be huge for the Whites.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, the football finance expert predicted that it could earn Leeds a further £14million every season just from ticket sales.

“It’s a huge boost in revenue,” Plumley said.

“If you look at the maximum capacity, I know you never get to that, but you’re talking 15,000 seats, if not a little bit more.

Even if you take an average ticket price, a normal matchday for Leeds at the moment is around £50 for an adult ticket, so even if you times those numbers together, that’s going to generate £750,000 extra per matchday.

Over the course of a Premier League season, that’s just over £14million additional revenue, and that’s assuming they’re average tickets, but there will be some hospitality thrown in as well.

At the very least, that’s a huge upturn in revenue when it’s there; their matchday revenue has been hovering around £30m, so that on top does boost it.”

Will Premier League football be played at new Leeds stadium?

Of course, it will take up to five years for the expansion to be complete, so it would be impossible to predict that right now.

What Leeds do have is a brilliant opportunity.

A win at Everton puts them eight points clear again, but also drags Tottenham and Crystal Palace into danger when both are in states of crisis right now.

With only Ipswich looking capable of bouncing back to the Premier League after relegation, too, next season will be another brilliant chance to build and stick around.

Leeds need consistency at the top level, and investment is needed for that.
