Sky Sports journalist shares what he’s been told about Georginio Rutter-Leeds United medical amid hold-up

Georginio Rutter has completed his Leeds United medical ahead of a club-record transfer, but final details are still to be clarified says Florian Plettenburg.

The Whites agreed a deal worth up to £35m for the French youngster this week and he undertook his medical, but an official announcement on the deal has yet to be made.

But responding to questions on his personal Twitter account (14 January), Plettenburg revealed that he has been told the medical is done but the deal is just waiting on the final things to be signed off before it can be classed as official.

“News Rutter: Because of many requests.. Been told that the medical is done. But it’s not easy,” he wrote.

“Big transfer for all parties. Last details have to be clarified. But no worries. Transfer will work!”

There are definitely some Leeds fans who were getting nervous about whatever the delay on the deal was considering how quickly the Max Wober deal got done.

Rutter’s deal will be a club-record signing for us but also a record sale for Hoffenheim, and clearly they both want to ensure that everything is done correctly and thoroughly.

With the game taking place on Friday night attentions were obviously elsewhere, but there is a nice little gap now between games where the club can make this official and get it over the line.

The key words that Plettenburg has used are “no worries”, because that will certainly settle the nerves of some fans who were getting worried after the sagas of Cody Gakpo and Bamba Dieng in the summer.

Rutter will wear the white shirt at some point this month, and this deal will be done, so we can stop thinking about it until it gets announced now.
