'Excellent' - talkSPORT pundits discuss Leeds clash v Arsenal, predict tough challenge for one player

It could come as a surprise that Arsenal are big favourites to beat Leeds United on Monday evening.

The Gunners currently sit tenth in the Premier League, whereas Leeds have entered the new year in a commanding position to earn promotion by sitting top of the Championship.

Both teams will be expected to make changes, with their minds firmly set on their league form in the second half of the season.

When discussing players to potentially pick in their FA Cup fantasy sides, Reiss Nelson and Nicolas Pepe were mentioned for the game at the Emirates Stadium.

“You’re looking at a player who really excelled in the Bundesliga last season,” he said on talkSPORT’s preview podcast.

“He’s started the past couple of games in the past month or so, could be a shout if he plays well against Leeds, who are an excellent team at the moment.”

Pepe was then also mentioned, and Sam Matterface admitted that he expects the Whites full-back – possibly Barry Douglas after his West Brom cameo to be much more capable than Luke Shaw was recently.

“Did help him, Pepe, that he playing up against Luke Shaw, and presumably whoever plays left-back at Leeds will be slightly more capable.”

Douglas was superb in the second half in the game against West Brom and will be looking to continue that form by starting against Arsenal – potentially making it a tough evening for the Ivorian.

The Scotsman was strong in defence and got forward to great effect in a game when Leeds really should have returned to West Yorkshire with all three points.
