Leeds United in hunt to sign Anto Sekongo as player set to make transfer decision soon

Leeds United have been named as one of several clubs across Europe who are looking to sign Dunkerque star Anto Sekongo this summer.

The Whites’ chairman, Paraag Marathe, admitted that the club will have to navigate this summer’s transfer window strategically due to ongoing financial constraints.

With that being said, Leeds are looking to sign young talent who can progress the club without costing the 49ers too much.

According to Africafoot, the Whites are interested in signing Sekongo from French Ligue 2 side Dunkerque.

Leeds may get a transfer answer soon from the 21-year-old, who is set to decide on his future this summer window.

Who is Anto Sekongo?

Leeds have already been linked with some obscure talent, and Sekongo is another name to add to that list.

But that’s not for any negative reasons, as it’s clear the youngster has impressed Elland Road figures, catching the attention of key individuals despite playing in the second tier of France.

Sekongo ins Ligue 2

Sekongo is from Mali and plays in attacking midfield, but also has the ability to perform in a right-wing position.

He is a right-footed player and has spent the past two seasons in Ligue 2 with Dunkerque, who finished mid-table this campaign.

The former Reims academy star is contracted to his employers until 2028, but will soon have his choice to join any of a large list of potential suitors.

Daniel Farke is keen to sign a new number 10 this summer, but whether Sekongo could make an impact in the first team straight away will be a question on the tongues of Leeds fans.

Who is Leeds’ main competition for Sekongo?

Multiple Ligue 1 sides in France are interested in signing Sekongo, who looks ready for the step up to the first tier at the very least.

However, Leeds will also face strong competition from newly-promoted Premier League side Hull City, who are “on the trail” of the attacker.

Sekongo had what has been described as an “exceptional” season, bagging 13 goal involvements altogether, ending the campaign with the joint-eighth most attacking returns in the division.

Hull have monitored multiple games of Sekongo’s, and look to be Leeds’ strongest rivals for his signature.
