Blockbuster Raphinha-Leeds United exit saga becomes 'dangerous' as clubs circle - Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano has insisted that the Leeds United exit saga of Raphinha is now becoming “dangerous” with three clubs all circling to get a deal done.

The reliable journalist has reported that despite Chelsea agreeing on a deal with the Whites, Arsenal and Barcelona are going to push until the very end to hijack that move.

Chelsea are said to have fresh contact with Deco today [30 June], as they look to understand the situation more clearly, with Romano admitting that anything can still happen.

Writing in his latest Caught Offside column, Romano shared what is currently happening with Raphinha on the verge of sealing the exit that he so sorely wants.

“Certainly, Barcelona and Arsenal will try until the last minute to get this deal done, so they can’t be ruled out of the running just yet,” he wrote. “Chelsea will have a fresh contact with Deco today to try to understand the situation.

“Unfortunately, it is difficult to predict a deal so ‘dangerous’ for three clubs included: anything can always happen right up to the end.

“All we can be sure of is that whoever wins the race for Raphinha will be getting a top player – I think he’s shown at Leeds that he’s ready for a big move, and to impact games at the highest level.”

This is becoming silly now.

We can confidently say that the only way this could benefit Leeds is if Arsenal and Barcelona pushing until the very end could see a bidding war that pushes the price beyond £70million.

Unfortunately, we are talking about one of the Premier League’s tightest clubs, and one of Europe’s most financially challenged, despite all of their glory throughout time.

Raphinha clearly wants out, there is no disputing that and some may argue that he has earned that.

The problem here is Deco.

Agents often find a way to get their noses in it, and the Portuguese intermediary is clearly pushing the Barcelona move too much and making promises that he simply cannot provide.

Hopefully, with Chelsea agreeing a fee and now making contact with Deco, this can be sorted sooner rather than later and Victor Orta can get to work with that money and bring in players that can actually help our cause.
