‘Zero class’, ‘Pathetic’ – These Leeds fans fume at official Hull tweet following Casilla ban
The official Hull City twitter account decided to try and score points after Kiko Casilla was banned by the FA on a racism charge, ahead of the Championship game at the KCOM on Saturday.
Shortly after Casilla was banned, the admin in charge of the Hull account thought it would be a good idea to score points against Leeds by posting, “A timely reminder that tomorrow’s match against Leeds United is dedicated to kick it out.”
As you can imagine, the Leeds fans were not happy and rightly so. That really wasn’t the time to try and score points over a rival.
Casilla was banned for eight games with immediate effect and will serve the first game of his ban against Hull on Saturday.
The timing is totally bizarre from the FA. The incident happened in September and the hearing was last week.
Why they decided to wait until Friday evening, when team preparations were already well underway for the Hill game is anyone’s guess. Only the FA will know why they thought this was appropriate timing to deliver the verdict.
Why Hull City thought this was an appropriate response is anyone’s guess too.
Racism in football is a serious matter. Not something for the bantz on Twitter.
