‘Wow’, ‘Triggered’ – Many Leeds fans react to ‘Hilarious’ Brighton fan page article on Ben White
Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to mock an article that has appeared on WeAreBrighton.com about Ben White’s future.
White, 22, has been transformed from a player nobody really heard about at the AMEX into one that has been the Championship’s stand-out defender and been linked with top Premier League clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City [The Athletic].
Marcelo Bielsa’s impact on the centre-back is clearly a huge factor in his development and many Leeds fans would love to see him sign permanently at Elland Road once his loan spell is over.
However a story on WeAreBrighton.com says that “the most important thing to remember about Ben White is that he is a Brighton player” and that if you “read comments online and you might be forgiven for thinking he belongs to Leeds United”.
Leeds fans have been in stitches about the article since reading it and as you delve deeper into it, you can see why.
They continue: “There there was an article on The Athletic which said Leeds will let Ben White return to Brighton on July 1.
“Let him. As if it’s their decision that he returns to his parent club. What are they going to do otherwise, take him hostage in a cupboard at Elland Road?”
“White could spend a year playing second guitar on tour with Lady Gaga and it would be none of Leeds’ business.
“Leeds are an irrelevance at this point.”
Some of the points made are genuinely hilarious – it is, without doubt, one of the saltiest things that we, and many Leeds fans, have read about the club in a long time.
We all know that White is Brighton’s player. We just want him to be Leeds’ player on a full-time basis.
And their fans would be deluded to think they could stave off interest from teams like Liverpool, Man City and even Leeds in the next transfer window if the Whites go up and Brighton suffer relegation.
Some Leeds supporters have been reacting to this story after LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross picked it up and it has had some of them in stitches.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has detailed the “elephant in the room” in regards to White’s future at either Brighton or Elland Road.
